About my work
For over thirty years, I have worked with people from all walks of life - dancers, athletes, office professionals, artists, students. Everyone has habitual ways they hold themselves in their day-to-day life. And everyone has traumas of one form or another that are held in their body as much as in their mind. I believe our bodies store and reflect our psychological experience of life, and so my massage work is very much about working with the full individual - body, mind, energy, psychology…the whole person. Sometimes this means working out that tight lower back, and sometimes it means bringing stillness to an overwhelmed nervous system.
Although I have an extensive toolbox of approaches to massage therapy, I believe all massages should be uniquely adapted to the needs of each client, every session. My aim is to provide meaningful, useful, and effective work that allows my clients to truly release long-held tensions.
That said, here are some of the bodywork approaches I use in my massage sessions:
Deep tissue therapy
Neuromuscular therapy
Sports massage
Muscle energy techniques
Swedish massage
Prenatal massage
Polarity therapy
Shiatsu
Craniosacral therapy
Alexander Technique
Thai massage
Reiki
Guided visualization
I have studied various martial arts, meditation practices, music, and a lot of bodywork over the years. In many ways, this all informs my massage work.
I am currently teaching a Tai Chi class at Yogamour on Tuesdays and Fridays as well.
